Music Tutor
Guitar, Bass, Ukulele & Songwriting
( BA Hons Music, A level in Music)
Bob is a passionate guitarist from Chorley in Lancashire. He grew up in a music loving household, and at age seven he was inspired by rock guitar heroes to pick up the guitar himself. During highschool and college, he developed his playing in a rock covers band, which encouraged him to pursue music as a career, acquiring an A-level in music and securing a place studying music at the University of Hull.
During his time at university Bob found work as a session guitarist for several artists and songwriters before starting the Hull based songwriting duo called P&B, producing and releasing original songs and performing frequently. He also gained experience leading the University’s Big Band, Funk and Soul band, Orchestra, and Wind band at various points in his studies, while also discovering a love for music theory and improvisation. After finishing University Bob was eager to share his passion for music and music theory with less experienced players, working with CIME to teach new guitarists in a creative environment everything he knows about rock, soul, funk, blues, folk and jazz.
I’ve been taking lessons with Bob for a few weeks now. I can finally play an instrument! Bobs lessons are the correct balance between playing and theory. I now understand music and can take pride in my learning. I’m also planning to go and see P&B- Bobs band playing soon! My passions for music has been reignited by Bob!
I’m an intermediate player and completely self taught but I had a few lessons with Bob and he immediately unlocked my ability as a player. I am particularly nervous about soloing and improvising but Bob created a great environment and encouraged me to do it- walking me through it step by step and highlighting the common mistakes I am prone to. He is a patient teacher and helps you understand not only what you’re playing but why you are playing it, balancing theory knowledge and technical ability.
